I now have my second female Red Hump Geophagus holding eggs, the first one had her babies go free swimming about 2 weeks ago. I was thinking of trying to turn them in for some store credit once they got bigger, but I have heard that many stores don't like to do this...

So I was wondering what everyone does with all of their fry? My Geos being mouthbrooders have very small numbers compared to some of you who have hundreds of severum, parachromis, etc fry.

thats what with my red julews and GT's i do i trade to a lfs for credit on other things i need for my tanks

So far all I've bred is convicts, I've got two tanks of them with fry in them right now. I usually leave the fry in there until they start causing problems between the parents. Then I just put them in a 10-30gallon and do 50% water changes every day and feed them a lot. Two months later they're all 1.5-3 and I take them to the LFS and hope to get $.75 a piece for them. When my "good fish" (saggitae, lyonsi, brasiliensis) pair off I will be taking care of those ones as soon as they are free swimming. I will keep some, see what the LFS's will give me but I'm mostly counting on selling them to my fish dealer.

If it is a desirable species that isn't too common, most LFS will do a trade, if not I rather just give them away locally to anyone who wants them. Otherwise, feeders.
