what does f0/f1/f2 mean exactly?

i assume it is the # of generations fr wild specimens (ie f0 wild, f1 spawn of wild, f2 2nd generation of wild), but i want to be sure ...

I do believe that you are correct sir.
 
I learned about this in Genetics...and I believe it means the generation of the fish....and you nailed it!

you got it.;)
 
it can refer to f0 being wild caught and so on. it can also refer to the parental generation being f0, next generation being f1, and so on but this is more a in a genetics perspective. usually on here people refer to wild caught as f0 in that sense
 
It can also be considered the degree of mark up that you'll pay for a fish at the LFS, with the f# being inversely proportional to the price.
