Okay, so at least ONE other Leporinus desmotes exists...

BUT NO LEPORINUS MORALESI OTHER THAN THIS ONE EXIST IN AQUARIA AS FAR AS CAN BE DETERMINED!!! AND HERE IS THE PIC!!!!!!

(Just noticed the L. desmotes hiding beneath, on the second photo.)
Enjoy!

That's sweet where did you go to collect them? Must be nice knowing you are the only one to ever set foot there and collect them yourself ;)

They were "contaminants" ("unknown fish" that come in with other fish in shipments.) Cool stuff!

The Golden Barra definitely is one of a kind, BUT... not a "one of a kind" SPECIES.

Rarest VARIETY, possibly.

This is one of my two ULTRA RARE Leporinus (Thus far, these are the ONLY known ones in existence in aquaria.)
Here is the Leporinus desmotes.
I will get some of the Leporinus moralesi in a little bit. Doing water changes right now.

Didn't know they were rare. Saw one last yr at a lfs but thought it was a
Leporinus fasciatus that wasn't stable:cry:

It seems that L. desmotes is appearing sporadically, one here, one there, far and few in between. But yes, so far I've only heard of mine, and two others at LFS. They DO look like unstable fasciatus.

I DO wonder why they are so rare? These two Leps.

I have a big eye'd Afircan Catfish, but not much is said about them

i may be wrong though
