What does the future ahead look like for you in the hobby????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well so far i have a 55, 120, 150 and a 550 pond. I may be getting a 300, but i really want something bigger 350-600. i want to turn my 120 which currently is home to 2 jds, 2 jags, a convict, and a albino T O. Into a discus/cory/angel/tetra biotope. Move the two jags and oscar to the pond, and the rest into the 150. The 150 currently has 10 baby ornatums that im trying to get a pair out of.

Lately i have big tank fever i just want to upgrade 120 and 150 are kinda small. In the future I would like to have a 900-1500 stocked with cichla, arows, rtc, dats, and others. Also would like to have two 500g and maybe like a 750. One of the 500gs being discus/planted type of tank.

I will probably continue wtih the more mellow South Americans. I started changing over about 2 years ago and right now I only have 1 Central American tank and the remaining are South American. I've given up all my Africans and don't plan to go back to them. Once my fish room is finished I plan to have tanks devoted to Altums, Domestic Angels, Discus, Geo's and Some of the larger South Americans and will probably keep at least 1 tank devoted to Centrals.

future of building my tank has begun dimensions are going to be around 8' x 4' x 2'

putting my Florida gar and my pbass together in the hefty tank.

My future needs to include at least a 125g for my C. celidochilus. Though I have a lot to learn, I'd love to one day be able to breed them. And I need a trip back to Uruguay to go collecting!

More importantly I need to drink more coffee and wake up so it doesn't take me 10 mins to write 3 sentences!

i wanna stick to south/central american cichlids mostly as well. i wanna get a couple oscars, red devils, midas', xilo's, red terrors, and a few other cichlids. i would also like to have a frontosa tank and a cichlid pond.

I think I'm pretty much set on the more aggressive cichlids. I'm going to keep them and watch them grow to their full potential. In the future I will have a Koi pond, catfish pond, P Bass tank, a large tank of small peaceful cichlids and pikes, and even a small saltwater tank. The good thing about this hobby is that there is no need to rush. I admit that I do get anxious about acquiring some fish but the wait gives me time to properly prepare for each new setup. I'm sure some of these plans will change as time goes on. I'm constantly learning about more fish, and not just cichlids, that I tend to want to keep a new bunch all the time.

I would like to get a 300-500g tank. I have so many ideas, but one I will explore for sure is a more peaceful SA tank. I will still keep my 265g and just have two large tanks. I don't want a lot of tanks... I will keep my 55, 56 and then the two large tanks and that is it... I think. First I need to move into a new house 3-5 years or so down the road. In Bart Scotts words... "Can't wait!".

To get my 180 Gal out of storage and set up by October. Housing my 4 Ornatum growouts, 6 myleus Schomburgkiis, 10 clown loaches, and green phantom. Hopefully get a good pair and spawn these guys over the next couple of years.

In my 90 Gal, get a pair out of my Festaes ( I got like 7-8 juvies at the moment) and keep those in there alone. Hopefully start filling up all my smaller tanks with fry !!!!!!!!

My future is maintaining my new 210g once its completely set up. I just started filling it and getting my driftwood water logged to sink. I am all plumbed and just need to get my Matrix into the FX5's and turn it on.

Now my stock is still in question... I have a Midas who is pretty easy going with tankmates but these have always been smaller than him. A fellow MFK member in town has offered to sell me a large Pearsei, and Ive been eye balling an Argentea at my LFS. So now I'm in the position of a new tank with a semi-new stock and trying to get everyone to get along. So thats it for me. Oh yeah I will then sell my 120g and see if I can sneak a 29g tank upstairs in my office.
