What drives people to keep fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At first it was the beauty of them...now its a combination of that...amongst other things. I like the hobby because it relaxes me...it motivates me and it challenges me all at the same time!

i got a free tank...then overfilled the tank so i got another...and then the fish in the second didn t get along so i got a third.
Also being laid off and it being rainy and stormy a lot the last few months leaves a lot of free time to check the boards and stare at fish i guess.

Then I found some used fish on CL and picked them up.

 @ "Used fish"...

If I were one to put quotes in my sig this would be it. Just the wording is hilarious.

As for the original topic - I keep fish because I like them. I always have. I've kept fish for around 2 decades now with only a short break here and there. But I've had tanks a good 90-95% of the time.

I don't know what it is, but it's definitely an addiction.

My sister was nice enough to give my brother a 10 gallon. Two months later we had ordered a 110. As I type this, there's the 110 behind me, a 75 beside me and a 30 quarantine over to my left. All are stocked and running.

Playing God... *laughs maniacally*... it's like picking up one person from every continent and examining them living in a house together.

Jk... :ROFL:kind of... :naughty:

It's like having toys that are alive. Collect 'em, trade em, make new ones.

And I am a victim of ugly cuteness. I see this:

and this:

And feel wiggly inside. And want more.

It's the satisfaction of having company come over and complimenting on my tank and fish. And it's really the only hobby I have right now since I sold my car...........

Ages up to now I have awlways fished and loved the fish. I always bought betafish and my sisters killed them with a mirror. I eventualy wanted my own tank and got a 20h when I was 10. I sat go hours watching the fish swim around. I bought an Oscar because they are so graceful and violent at feeding time. African chichilds are lust cool looking and colorful. And gouramis are my favorite community fish so I keep them to. I just love having an entertainment source that you can actually interact with
