Im seeing crazy growth in my Orinos. They have grown about 1" in about a month, and have put on really good girth. Frozen krill pieces, market shrimp pieces, ocasional frozen bloodworms / glassworms, and live rosies, ghost shrimp or live bearers once a week. They just recently started taking freeze dried krill, hopefully pellets soon. They have put on enough weight that I am about to reduce their feedings, power feeding for too long can actually stunt growth. I think variety is the key. I may start something new here soon....fresh cut pieces of salmon with the skin. Salmon skin is a major ingredient in color enhancing foods.

over feeding will not stunt growth but your cichla will be obese looking and round like pancakes instead of long and natural looking

ok.. since someone asked. i know none of you guys agree with me.. but here goes.

i feed only fresh frozen fish, krill, chicken breast pieces, beef heart, chicken hearts, market shrimp (61/70 most of the time, but i stock up when the 31/40 shrimp go on sale), turkey thigh meat is a recent addition that EVERYBODY likes, and catfish nuggets.

right now my big issue with the catfish nuggets is that "someone" (not me) froze an entire 10 lbs of catfish nuggets into one big lump. and after accidentally poisoning my fish with bad smelt, i'm kinda afraid to thaw and repackage it into meal sized packages. i'm afraid i'll get to feed them catfish nuggets one more time then i'll have to just throw the rest away.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I picked up a cpl of items i may try.
