You could do a simple senegal or delhezi bichir. Both get up to around a foot long if I'm not mistaken. Plus, they can co-exist with you fish. There are also rope fish and leporinus.

I have a school of giant danios in my tank around 7 of them. You can get them at petsmart for 1.89 each! they make the tank so active because they constantly move in schools. try them

I'd put a BGK in there.
