What filter is best?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
2217 Is by far quieter. But 110 Is easier to service. I would take fx5. Easy to change floss(for me) and is quiet.

For a 75 gallon I'd go with a canister of some sort myself. I like to hide the plumbing and hobs make that alot harder.

But bang for the buck its hard to beat an ac110.

I'm not too worried about the maintenance, so it looks like I'll be getting the eheim. Thank you all for your help.

At first I was skeptical but I really like the FX5. Easy to use, clean and pumps a lot of water. I have one on my 90 gallon corner and has been flawless.

I'm running an AC110 on my 75. Stock is a 10" Black diamond Rhom. I love the AC110. Quiet, customizable, easy to clean.

another option I haven't heard yet ,,,,XP3 ,,,$105 ON AMAZON,,,,proper sized canister and good flow,,,,,,1/2 THE PRICE OF THE BIGGER EHEIM....but you will have to buy the bio media

Love this canister. I'm running 6 of these guys. Good filter, especially for the money. Easy maintenance. Quiet

My 2¢:
Fluval FX5-

1) It will provide sufficient filtration for almost any potential residents;
2) Is super customizable and you can use almost any type of bulk media;
3) Good bang for the buck (especially since the fx6 has been released);
4) Very Reliable;
5) Bedroom quiet.*

The heck with all of those suggestions. Regardless of tank size a properly setup sump fills all of those requirements. Easy to service, inexpensive to operate, and fairly inexpensive to setup relative to size of aquarium.

Agree. Overall, they pretty much win on almost every level.
