What filter would I need?

If you buy used off of Craigslist, there's a good chance you may get filtration with it.

For under $150? I would stay again with used. Go with a decent canister filter and a couple of AC110 HOBs. You can research all the great topics here on canisters to determine which one you would prefer. With some luck, you could get some really good filtration within your budget.

You may want to look into sumps, wet/dry too while you're saving up. It may be a good way for you to go :)

Well if you want to pay a little more for quality. An eheim 2217 will work great for your tank. 160$

Or you could go a little cheaper with two AC110's.

Both great options for your tank.

well one 2217 wont nearly suffice for that size tank, you would need at least a couple, so that would be about 300$+, so you would be better off going with an FX5 and used AC110 rather than 2 2217's

Would be nice to know what you are going to put in the tank. That could have a deciding factor on what filtration you get too. If you are dropping the money for a $150, I would honestly save a little more and get some good filtration. Look into the bigger Eheims, an FX5, or a sump.

Stock will determine a lot. ATM, my 120 is over stocked, and i love over filtrating, so I run an Fluval 405, and Rena XP3 Canisters and 2 Penguin 350 HOB's.

Oscars and plecos are all TPM's. (Total Poop Machines)

The more filtration the better, but I've heard that marineland canisters are doo-doo. Aquaclear HOBs are far superior, and cheaper too.
