I am planning on purchasing a 125gal tank. this will be my first "monster" sized fishtank and I would like to know how to best filter it. I love my fish and would be mortified if I killed them trying to give them a bigger home. I want buy all of the necessary parts before I buy the tank because I believe maitenence is the most important part in keeping a healthy environment. For a tank this size, what is reccomended for a filtration system? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! thank you. :)

I like wet/dry sump. It is the easiest and best filtration imho. you can put your heaters and everything right under the tank.

a 125 is not that big so i would go with 2 good canister filter

eheim all day long

Personally i would use an Fx5 , as i have one on my 100Gal tank and it works great .

But depending on your stock i would go with anything along the lines of an Fx5 or small Sump or even a couple of Fluval 405's , Ect .

Get your tank pre drilled and get a wet dry sump. You will never regret it. ;)

i run a 60 gallon sump wet/dry (900gph)and a fx5 on my 125,a little overkill but well worth it,never had a water quality issue ever.

A wet/dry sump if you have the room and/or a cannister filter like Eheim or Rena XP4. I use an XP4 along with 5 hydrosponge IV (with 3 maxijet 1200 powerheads) on my 130g stingray grow out tank, no problems so far.

wow! 5 hydrosponge ,your tank must be crystal clear(alot of people dont realize that sponge filters are great)

the new fruval (g5 ? i think) is realy realy cool

im gonna put one on layaway lol
