I do not feed live fish to my fronts, so my hopes are they will not take a bite out of tankmates... I feed pellets, bloodworms and shrimp pieces...

Some of the larger haps from lake malawi or calvus would work..but your tank is only 4 feet long. your tanks footprint isnt very big, so id probably just keep the fronts by themselves-they will grow pretty large.
ive seen some keep them with large SA/CA fish and it seems to work-i wouldnt advise it, but it works for some i guess.

excuse my nubbishness but what you do mean by "comps??" I'm also looking to get some frontosas and wondering what I can put with them.
I currently have a 125 gallon with 2 kribensis, 2 roseline sharks, and 2 small clown loaches. I want to get about 5 frontosas (4 female and a male), and pleco of some sort.
Ive read that they could all do well at about a 7.5-8 ph. Ideally I'd also want to add a peacock eel and some firemouths (and i'd consider calvus) as well but ive read that firemouths wouldnt go well with the frontosas. Which of all these fish listed could I keep together?

We are referring to compressiceps and calvus. Both are Lake Tanganyika fish.
I know you asked what type of cichlids, but on another quick note, clown loaches work well with Fronts. Just my quick opinion.
