no gars then didnt kno it gets that cold thereall the above id go with lol try white sturgeon they should get to 12'

Those are out, too.

Also, this past summer, the importation and/or possession of live fish or live
eggs of all forms of sturgeon (family Acipenseridae) including "sterlet" was
prohibited. It was determined that a potential threat to Atlantic sturgeon and
the federally endangered shortnose sturgeon existed due to competition,
hybridization and disease transmission should other sturgeon be introduced to
Connecticut waters.

It's pretty large. 300 feet by... hm... 300 feet? Roughly.

It's completely surrounded by trees, the water peters out depth wise for about 50 feet near the far back and right side of the pond.

I know I have choices when it comes to what I could stock the pond with, but I'm curious what can live there very comfortably.
50 ft deep? man, if your fish are small they will rarely be seen! is it a nature pond or a man made pond ?
you will need a lot of fish to fill in the pond!

That's a small lake lol. 300 feet by 300 feet by 50 feet? You could have almost anything in there. I'd go for a wels catfish. Might want to check there temperature range though. If I recall correctly they can survive the cold very well.

I think koi would be fine with the cold! how cold it get at your place ?

Koi can live under ice. I'm sure they would be fine. But with a pond that big I'd go for something more interesting and larger. You would never see koi.

its easier to see koi than other fish in a pond because when you feed then at 1 place for a long time, they will swim near that place and follow you when they see you walk near!
see the koi in Beijing, or some big pond in Japan, and many place else? they will come up near the place people stand by to get foods!

Koi would be kind of boring for a pond that big. I'd go for something way bigger.

Agreed, koi will do well in winter conditions but at 50' deep I wouldn't worry too much about temps, just try and keep a hole in the surface for gasses to escape but down that deep its insulated super well so the botton section will be many deg. warmer than the top. In a pond that big Koi would be able to grow to their full potential and could get 2-3' and will be nice and bright and colorfull.
