As the title says. However, please be reasonable. Don't say arowana, because that is not a feeder! And yes, many small fish could, but is it really worth it?Maybe more common types. For example here is what I use: rosy reds, guppies(not the fancy kind),and platies. What about you?P.S. I know many feeders harbor diseases and stff, but this is a time when its like if you have to.

I fed goldfish in the past, not anymore. I do still use Rosy Reds and Guppies though.

I am breeding Mollies and Platys though as it's free once they start breeding and I know they are healthy. The last batch of Platys got eaten quick.

When I had a breeding pair of convicts the fry were gobbled up every time, so I guess those as well.

I've had a bass eat a small CAE, so those too I guess but it wasn't intentional.

CON'S here, home grown too.

Yeah,Ive heard convicts breed easily and can make good feeders. I recently started breeding feeder guppies and platies too!

Yeah.I guess convicts might make better feeders for larger fish.Don't know yet, though.

When I hear anybody refer to "feeders", two things immediately come to mind: 1) small, cheap fish kept in overcrowded, disease ridden conditions and 2) small, inexpensive, easy to breed fish raised in home aquaria. I prefer the latter.

For a small setup, breeding your own might work. I'd need several acres of rearing ponds to keep up with the demand my fish have. I receive deliveries of live pseudo-wild-caught bait shiners each week. They're wild but are bred/reared in netted off areas of streams. No harsh chemical treatments as with feeder comets. And, more omega-3 than that found in warmwater species like guppies, mollies, and convicts. I have a 4 trough rotation where the batch being fed out has been in quarantine for 4 weeks. No problems with this system in the 5 years I've been using shiners. I have more problems with fish thinking tankmates make good feeders.
BTW, the school of shiners I keep in each FRT tank have spawned several times. So, I guess my feeder management is fairly adequate.
