What fish do you consider "feeders"?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
feeder is any non valuable fish that reproduces quickly

Convicts don't make great feeder as they do grow dorsal spines but they reproduce so eazily and quickly that many people use them as feeders

Right now my firemouth decided to spawn there free swiming now but will be feeders in a week or two i suppose

When I hear anybody refer to "feeders", two things immediately come to mind: 1) small, cheap fish kept in overcrowded, disease ridden conditions and 2) small, inexpensive, easy to breed fish raised in home aquaria. I prefer the latter.

i agree, sooo much, i do the same, store bought feeders are bad news

As the title says. However, please be reasonable. Don't say arowana, because that is not a feeder! And yes, many small fish could, but is it really worth it?Maybe more common types. For example here is what I use: rosy reds, guppies(not the fancy kind),and platies. What about you?P.S. I know many feeders harbor diseases and stff, but this is a time when its like if you have to.

I consider African cichlids between 3-6" As feeder fish right now.

I am known to feed American cichlids fo the same sizes as well.

And natives too.

I consider many fish as feeders though .

Ummmm....I consider lots of fish feeders for many reasons.....Top spines are not bad either...lol
