What fish eat waste in aquarium?

Why do plecos poop so much? Would a goldfish of similar size and weight create more or less bio waste than a common pleco?

Not all plecos produce a lot of waste, nor do they all eat plant matter. Those that are genetically hard wired to consume a lot of plant matter, generally consume a lot of food with low nutritional content such as the algae, wood, and biofilm found in aquariums, so they glean what nutrients that they can, and excrete the rest.

Large bodied, slow moving, bottom feeding fish just tend to create a lot of waste. Not sure why. I assume it has something to do with how their digestive system is built, which obviously has something to do with the lifestyle they have and the food they eat.

my goldfish will eat my oscar's poop sometimes.

I doubt its actually eating the poop. It might be spitting it out later. A lot of fish do this and especially goldfish. They'll keep trying to eat it and the poo usually ends up getting broken up.

should never feed Oscar gold fish, wither gut loaded or not,, not good for them.

I think flagtails always left my tank in tip top shape
Not sure of eating poop
But left over food and clean glass or acrylic good fish to do so
