$150 plus shipping for a 13 inch African Arowana. Price wasn't horrible but it was during a time when I should have been more financially responsible. Had other things to worry about but still took the expensive fish first. :nilly:

Arn't most things overpriced? Livebearers should always be 'on sale.' They breed like mad men, almost makes $3-5 per fish totally insane.

Great thread by the way, can't wait to read some horror stories.

Most of them. This is our chosen hobby and we have to pay what others dictate.

My "wild caught" Oscar. $25 is easily three times what I could have gotten a similar Oscar for at four inches. Especially with my local petsmart getting oddball wild O's so frequently. But my guy was an F1 from Rapps, then through a local fish store I was happy to support. Since I do plan on keeping this fish for his whole life, I figured $25 is nothing in the long run with live food, dechlorinator, etc.

My L200 pleco was about $45 at four inches. Is that a bit high? He's the subviridis, if that's the more common, bigger one.

You dont wanna know, but it was 4 figures....lol
