Hello,

I collected these fish and at first I thought they were some kind of Sunfish. But I went fishing several days later and caught some adult sized Tilapia around the area these babies came from. So I started to think maybe they are baby Tilapia. But I really don't have an idea what they are.

These little guys range from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. There is a few big ones at 1.25 inch. Anyway here are some crappy pics, best I could get since they move around too much. Thanks

May have to just growout and see.

Definitely not sunfish. You are right about being some sort of Tilapia. With so many introduced and used as food fish, you could have one of several, or a miz of Tilapia species.

I am not sure what they are, but that black dot on the dorsal is important. Presuming it stays for the lifetime and is not a juvie coloration, you should be able to use it as an identifying characteristic to help with ID.

Yeah the black dot on the dorsal I noticed. And on some of the bigger ones they have some black markings that I thought might help ID them. Maybe I will wait till they get just a little bigger.
