Quickest way to tell if you have a centrarchid, such as a sunfish, or a cichlid, such as a tilapia: count the nostril openings. Sunfish, like most fish, have two pairs of nostril openings. Cichlids have only one pair. These guys are definitely cichlids and not centrarchids, but I don't know my cichlids well enough to ID them past that.
