I'm going to college in New Orleans and maybe I'd like to set up a small natives tank when I move here in 2007. I've tried googling for lists of local species but I've had no luck...can anyone help me out?

thanks

After the hurricane, probably none. I would swim the hell out of there.

lol i am sure u will find Oscars in the waters there as well
many fish in the waters there get put there by ppl who get rid of fish tanks

however as ewurm said HURRICAINS... did U know the storms R going to be that bad for the next 10 years

Nice link. LA has some nice transplants to catch, although I don't advocate releasing non-natives into the wild.

<<<<<<<<<<<<< if u ever catch a fish looking that that
please put me back i need to b FREE

Just be sure you aren't swimming around the french quarter.

haha. The French Quarter never flooded. That's the high part of the city near the river. Although if I did ever have to swim through the French Quarter, it would probably be through some of those puddles in Bourbon Street. And I'd have soak in bleach for a week to clean myself.
