how many do you think would be practical? i have a male and a female dovii that i am trying to pair up.

just an update. so i appreciate all the help you guys gave me. i was planning to go to the lfs and see if they had some tinfoil barbs or silver dollars, but before i left i noticed that the male was on the female side of the tank and that they were swimming together and she wasnt attackin him like the night before. so i gave a couple days and now i have taken the divider out and all seems well. they are swimming together and getting along great. do you think this means that they have paired up? i feel like a noob but i have never tried to pair up fish in the 8 years ive been in the hobby. should i still go and get some other fish to put in there or just leave em be. thanks guys!!!!

Sounds like they have decided they like each other. Just keep an eye on them and hope for the best. I keep my pair in a 210 by themselves and they get along great. I wouldn't risk adding anything to the tank.

My dovii absolutely loved the silver dollars I put in his tank. He even used one of their fins as a toothpic after he finished with them.
I'll take my black banned silver dollars anyday over a dovi. Dovi as common as a guppy in my opinion needs big tank all by itself. Phewee!! LOL
