A minimum 50 gallon aquarium is suggested for a single fish. Mine is 31.7 US gallons

Yes don't get Salvini's they get pretty big.

I'd look into the cryptotheros and archocentrus genus. Most of those stay quite small.

My main issue is i cannot go lower with regarding PH that is 8. Do you think they will be ok if i buy them juveniles?

I actually started a thread on ph with discus. Seems that as long as your discus are captive bred and acclimated properyl, they will do just fine in a ph of 8.

I think aquarium bred discus do not require that low PH.

if the water is a given, why don't you chose the proper fish for it? don't go with south american soft water species, please. all of the ones mentioned above are. just go with some african lake cichlids!
