What fish species is this?

Looks like one of the generic aquaculture Oreochromis sp. hybrids. Blue, Mozambique, Nile, Hornorum, etc.
You'll need a male to have fertile eggs, just fyi ;)

Good luck, they're awesome fish. Waaayyy underrated in this industry.

I'm starting to like these fishes, and also they can be kept in cold water temperatures in ponds :D
I have about 50 Mozambique/Hornorum crosses in my pond. They can go down to probably about 55 degrees for short periods of time. Blue Tilapia are the most cold tolerant. They can survive 45 degrees for short intervals. But in general, with most un-identifiable hybrid Tilapia, don't let the temp go below 60 for very long.

they are more interesting look a lot better and cheaper than Pbass so why they aren't kept more often I don't know. If I could find some locally I would buy them. even if just to breed them and make feeders.

The fact that they don't eat other fish is what keeps them from being anywhere near as popular as Jags, Pbass, etc.

Really? I don't keep my fish based on what their natural diet may be. In fact, all my fish eat pellets, with frozen bloodworms and freeze-dried shrimp as treats.
