why pure ammonia?

I have same sentiments as Zen. Don't use the fish to cycle a tank for you. They should be treated similarly as any other fish. Do fishless cycling method or other methods that do not involve usig aquatic creatures who are harmed by the toxicity of the ammonia and nitrites.

Because any additive to the ammonia could mess up your tank. I was told years ago that if you shake the bottle of ammonia while its closed and see NO bubbles that it will probably be pure. Looking on the ingredients would probably help too if the bottle has them. Hope this helps!

why pure ammonia?

1-it's humane to all those involved in the process.
2-when done cycling with pure ammonia you can add a full compliment of fish.
a bio load this great to cycle with, would surely kill off the sacrificial fish.
