he would out grow the 50 gal. how about a blue acara or a rainbow cichlid.

Go for a couple of silver dollars so you can have some movement. Mascara barbs would work well in that tank also. Also 1 synodontis catfish in a 50 would be fine for life they don't get that big. I like synodontis Angelicus.

I was looking for a little aggressive fish hopefully that could get along with the cat (Synodontis euptera) i was thinking maybe a alligator gar. Would a male/female pair of (wolf cichlid) Parachromis dovii work? i mean what i really want is a bulls eye snake head Channa marulius but i think they are illegal here in illinois and can't find one

Most definitely not on all three counts. An alligator gar has the potential to literally get longer than your tank. Dovii are very large and very aggressive cichlids. A pair would need something like 200 gallons. Channa of all species are illegal not only in Illinois, but the United States.

ok i wasn't sure if the channa was illegal all around or not so that is why i said that hmm. i want sorta of an aggressive fish. Maybe i should go with a female partner for the convict now and maybe though some more cories in there. What about a pike i am looking to buying or making a 150 or 200 gallon

I have 2 true alligator gars and they are really cool fish, i use to have a breeding pair of wolf cichlids which were fine in a 125 gal. I only found the male dovii to be entertaining, he would attack the glass when u approached but the female would just sit there. Snakeheads are illegal in america

so would the gator gar work for a year if i get them young enough i mean i am planning on getting a 150 or 200 next year this time i should have my own place then and out of the parents house i had a 75 with a 12" jack, 7" red devil, and a 6" convict they all got together fine along with some random 10" cat my parents made me get rid of it when i got arrest once so now i only got the 50 gallon but am going to be getting the 150 or 200 next year i like my convict would be make it with the gar if they are only a couple months?

Even a 200 isn't big enough for a gator in the long run. If you really want a gar, get a florida or something. They usually end up around 18-20", but really aren't aggressive like a gator

if u want a gar get a rocket gar i know it not a true gar but it doesn't grow that fast. i have a 5" one in my 55.
