What fish would work in a 55g?

I agree with Adam-011. A single JD and 2 convicts would be a nice combination. As far as plecos go, Gold Nugget Plecos are my fav. I'm planning on adding one to my 80g pretty soon.

I would deffinetly advise against a GT in a 55 gallon tank. They get to large to be housed in there permanently IMHO.

Do you think i would be able to get a pleco or two in there as well?

What other combinations do you guys think would be good in my tank with a JD?

I think you should get the one JD and one pleco. If you insist on another fish then get a convict but honestly in a 55 it will be better with just the JD. If your JD lasts long enough (years) then you will eventually want to get a bigger tank.

I would say you could do a jack dempsey, a couple convicts or firemouths, and a pleco.
