What Fish Would You Have in Your Ideal LFS?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I cant find an endli bichir around me for anything , the only parachromis is jags , petsmart midevils just nothing out of the ordinary . If you have to order it from the internet I would keep it in stock.

I'd love it if mine had not-hormone filled rams, oscars, and africans. Their SA/CA all seem to come from local guys and as such no hormones, also means lots of very low grade flowerhorns. Mine just quit with the tattoo mollies and BPs (died quicker than neons, no profit) this pleases me. I'd love it if they had gulper cats, are they being CB yet?
I'd really, really like it if they had used tanks at resonable used tank prices.

I'd say large koi. I'm a big fan but all you ever see are the small 3-5" mixed breeds in small aquariums or maybe a 1 footer. I've been to a few koi shows and these guys can be behemoths and I love large trophy koi...

In terms of slatwater I'd say rays or sharks... no one here keeps those in stock

You would love Ireland most good Fish shops have Massive Koi and for good prices :) And i would say More Albino or rare Colouration on fish like say More Albino CKF's and stuff :D

It seems like all of the LFS's in countries other than the U.S. are awesome from what I've read here on MFK.

My LFS does have a half dozen or so not-terrible looking 20"+ koi for 70$ in their pond. I always thought Florida would have awesome fish everything considering the all the big commercial tropical breeders are down there, shouldn't be too warm for breeding ponds for koi, or is it?
If I ever find myself overseas, I'm deffinitly going window shopping.

... minimal mark-up.. yet still make it. It's not to hard to find fish around here if your patient. BUt it is hard to find decent prices. I've seen 12" fire eels go for 100$ and retic rays go for 200$ I'de bring in some hearty bread and butters that you don't find at petsmart/co for the 55- crowd and keep an "oddball" section that always had something in it.

no fancy goldfish. 99% end up in bowls.. and when it dies a week or 2 later guess who's fault it was for selling a "bad" fish?..
