I think it is funny that almost all the "dream" fish listed by everyone are very large except mine, the jellybean jollytail (galaxias fuscus) maxes out at six inches but is usually only around 3 1/2", it is critically endangered due to the introduction of trout into it's home waters, young trout compete with them for food and larger ones eat them. I don't know why I covet them but I really do want some.

Aren't you special. :grinno:

so is the reason you dont have one is you cant get it? i mean if its endangered why not start a breeding project?

Sorry, the jollytail just does not strike my fancy, I don't see the hype your giving it. And it's not that I don't like small fish, I love collecting NA cyprinids, darters and killifish...I just don't see the big deal that would make it more special than any other small endangered fish.

Would you want it if it was not a rare species? Or do you want it because it is rare.

I always wanted a green terror when I was 12, then I got one. Then I always wanted datnoids, then I got some. Then I always wanted a peacock bass, then I got one. (and im saving up for a 300 gal. tank for it.) Now I want an arowana, and that is something that I cant have until I get my 300 gal. tank.

I had one crazy idea once about building a pond for bluefish or striped bass. After 5 minutes of research, it was clear to me that this would never work.

Huge Payara with bunch of different rays on the bottom, just like that picture.

I have only seen them in one public aquarium years ago, I fell in love with them. I kept my eyes open for them for years before finding out I would not be finding them. That of course made my silly infatuation even worse ( a case of forbidden fruit being the sweetest I suppose). I don't know why I like them so much, part of it might be just their name. I never claimed to be entirely rational. It is sort of like asking peanut power what makes crenacichla so special. In reality they are just one more neat little fish in a world full of neat little fish, but that does not help me out at all, lol.

fish i want i could never have funds for .............. a SHARK mayb a Bull Shark or tiger
