tnx. Every post was helpful. ..Camera on them to observe how them eat in the wild through the years that'd be awesome. Im sure most in the wild would like to eat more than they can find out there.

I will feeding less but not muh less. I like to feed according to their appetite but quality protein and less fat is what I want..
I want to concentrate on feed his muscle.

Great info guys. ty

Nice blue kk man..like mentioned a healthy well balanced diet is key. I think adding current through powerheads can keep your flowerhorns burning calories might also aid in keeping them fit. They're robust fish and can handle gd current. I got dual hydor 850gph powerheads that face each other in each of my flowerhorn tanks. I did this to keep the floating food moving, but I think there might be an added benefit with the water movement. just an idea

+1 to points about feeding above. A quality food not loaded with cereal and starches makes sense either way, which is why the first thing I do is check ingredients on any new food people are talking about. But fat fish basically says they should be fed less. Food label recommendations for feeding, such as feed twice a day as much as they'll eat in 3 minutes, or similar recommendations, are worthless imo (just an example for the sake of discussion, not saying that's what you're doing). Know what your fish should look like and adjust feeding accordingly. If anything, studies have shown that, once past the growout stage, slightly underfed fish live longer than overfed fish.
