Omega One & NLS. Hikari makes some decent foods as well.
Prime conditions and balanced diet they will be the brightest. Raw shrimp and krill are great color enhancers as well.

I use Omega One Super Color flakes and small pellets. I give them frozen (thawed) blood worms occasionaly. Don't feed African Cichlids non-vegatable foods often though for fear of bloat.

+2 for my South and Central Americans ............................. but its mixed with Omega one Veggie flakes and Omega One fd Blood worms. Thats feeding 2

Feeding 1 is either Hikari frozen Brine shrimp or San Fransisco Bay frozen Fresh water frenzy. frozen or live foods really seem to bring out great colors

My fish eat better than I do

i feed:
freeze-dried krill (switching to frozen next week)
omega one of all varieties (super color sinking cichlid pellets, super veggie kelp pellets, kelp flakes, shrimp pellets (i call them shrimp bombs!), regular sinking cichlid pellets (i always go sinking because floating pellets can make those voracious little dudes gulp in air and damage their swim bladders)

i also regularly alternate the following frozen food:
blood words/glass worms
emerald entre -(kelp, plankton, brine shrimp, spirulina
spirulina/brine shrimp mix
beefheart (NEVER give beefheart to my africans, not ever, and they usually just get the veggie stuff - and only the frozen stuff mixed with the veggies, the SA/CA guys get more protein)
omega one seaweed sheets

i have other foods, but this is the main stuff. varied diet is very very important, but you want to see WHOLE salmon, krill, whitefish, whatever NOT FISH MEAL. you want to see salmon near the top of ingredients for color - also krill is bomb for color. you can't go wrong. i don't use hikari. it's my understanding that they use meal - someone correct me if i'm wrong.

i've heard NLS is the best food you can buy, but i can't find it and i'm very happy with omega one, so i see no reason to switch.

stay away from ****ing tetramin ****flakes. ^_^

freeze dried krill, massivore and blood worm cubes with occasional worms.
The only fish i have that will eat NLS is my sydontis catfish and royal clown knife so i cant justify saying it makes my other fishes colors pop.
