I use a mix and keep it simple.
Hikari Bio Gold- Good staple
Wardley cichlid pellets - Good filler, cheap, easiest to get, and you get alot for the $6. you spend on the large can.
Tetra Cichlid pellets - Don't know why, but descoved by getting some for free my cichlids just can't resist those bright red pellets.
Omega One Cichlid Flakes - For whatever reason my Midas likes the flakes over the pellets, either one is great though. I also mix Wardley Flakes in there as well as it is half the price of the Omega and double the amount.
Freeze Dired Krill
The Wardley's you can get at any Walmart, the others Petsmart and Petco are your best bets. Just remember your fish can be tempermental about food. Mine can easily pick out NLS and will ignore it. Once in awhile my Midas would accidently get some, but turn around and spit it out immediately. Same goes for the Green Hikari Staple Pellets. Both would just be eaten by my plecos as they would scavenge for food.
