  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok wright now i removed the divider as i found my male in the female part in this morning and she was chasing him and acting like biting so i think she started be aggressive and now he doesn't exit from that castle at all ....i am going to try feeding him pellets and sometimes few live foods ........( also it would be better to buy a bigger male ? ) and he will die by starvation as he doesn't exit from that castle as it is scared by the female and all the food gets in the females belly

I grew my Salvini males from 1" to 3.5"-4" in 2 months using high temp (82 to 89 F) and frequent 50% water changes (every day, or every other day when I was lazy... nitrates never got higher than 5ppm). Food: NLS Cichlasoma formula and Thera+a as main diet, live shrimp, crayfish, frozen bloodworms, glassworms, small amounts three times a day. Worked fine... one of them is in my avatar... the small one is a female. They're still young but growing fast.

I agree with the other posters about the impact of water quality. IMO water changes are the secret to fast growth.

Couldn't agree more. Water quality is key. Keep the diet varied. Dont overfeed and keep the water quality top notch....

I agree with what everyone said water changes are the key. i like to have double the reqiured filtration. but no matter what filtration u have on the tank u need big regular water changes. I do 2 70% water changes weekly or try to. I tell myself that they will die if they dont get it. If u dont like doing water changes then your in the wrong hobby. when i do mine its my ME time. if you do big regular water changes then your male and all your fish will grow like weeds. guaranteed, I like what someone said feed krill or market shrimp, I will give feeders once or twice a week. neve have to worry about diseases unless u introduce a fish that has something. water changes keeps your fishkeeping almost problem free. good luck with your male.

My big boy loves Freeze dried Shrimp, he can't get enough of them and grows like crazy

With all due respect, you don't follow advice. Every question you've asked is a "HELP" or an "Emergency"...then people give advice and you ignore it. Rather than worrying about what to feed your fish to get bigger, you should concentrate on what you can do to keep them alive...and not sheltered in a plastic castle. Just my two cents. Lots of great advice in this thread...big water and a varied diet. Let the fish grow at a normal rate. DON'T buy a bigger male.....divide the pair you have. I'm done. Good luck.
