hay all i have a mix of convicts, texas jewels and yellow labs i know its a mix but they all get on togeather,

im wanting information on whats best foods, what fruit /veg can i anchor down in the tanks for them to munch on that will increase there size,

what tank temps are best to grow them up fast,

i know regular water changes etc are requied but what temps/ foods work best for the fish to grow large very fast

I use live plants rather than fruit. For my Afros's and SA's spirulina/garlic protien pellet mix in the mornin' and in the evening low protien/whey for the Afros - high protien & meaty foods for the SA's

my sevs love cucumbers and squash.

My carpintis and SDs eat spinach, I usually clamp a leaf in the magnetic algae cleaner.

thanks guys cracking ideas i will try these

with squash you do mean butternut squash?

any other suggestions ???

try algae wafers and spirinula based pellets. this will help with some colouration. also a good quality food such as cichlid gold as the staple, i use this as you get different sizes of pellets so i never have to change type as the fish outgrows one size. i have heard of people giving fruit to oscars but i am unsure if it will be ok for your smaller cichlids. shelled peas are good as well.
i am experimenting with earthworm pellets at the moment, seems to be going down a treat.

i feed my sa's/ca's turkey sometimes...seems to make them grow faster.
