What gives the DNR the right?

I do not understand how anything like this can be considered "LEGAL". I don't work for these sadistic folks! Why am I obligated to do these worthless folks jobs? Why is there no financial compensation from the state for being a "professional" snakehead hunter.

It is not an uncommon action to "cut" your fishing line when a dangerous species is caught in order to avoid injury. Most of us fishermen have caught hundreds of stingrays and I will go on record stating that the extreme prohibitive vast majority of us DO NOT bring these fish onboard when we happen to hook one of them. In short, your fishing tackle is no where near the value that it would take to bring the rays in and carefully remove the hook before releasing them.

I'll go even further out on a limb. In fishing freshwater, I have always practiced catch and release with only one exception in my entire life! My ultimate goal in freshwater fishing is to leave the "fishery" in THE EXACT CONDITION that I found it.

I HAVE NEVER KILLED A FRESHWATER FISH in my entire stinking life for pete's sake! If i happen to be unfortunate enough to catch a Snakehead, I will NOT be a part of this savagery! I will AT ABSOLUTE BEST cut my line releasing the snakehead back right where I found it!

How DARE these satanic Natural Resource & politicians come up with these B.S. laws! More importantly, how is it that a population can just sit back and allow ourselves to be "enslaved" by these criminals?

Can I get an all inclusive "upeth yours" from the MFK to the DNR? It is NOT our responsibility to "exterminate" any species that they have some agenda against. I don't however see near the challenge if we the people pass a law that all politicians are to be legally exterminated by cutting/ bleeding!

Would rather eat trout and bass though and not have these guys eating all the good stuff.

Also, if we as a nation are already in massive debt, do we really need to pay people to catch fish every day to kill and throw away and not give to people who need food?
I dont need to spend more tax money on some guys pension and all hes done is drive around and catch fish all day. leave that to the G loomis team

I resent the college student comment. That said u don't have to kill them but if you wish to keep their habitat pristean as you say u should, as cool as they are they are completely better predators than anything in our natural waterways and can end up tipping the balance of nature by killing off to many fish. And the elected officials of the united states gov. Gave the DNR that right. Like it or not.

trouts and bass are readily bred and not native to the Maryland area. Also snakeheads have been introduced in Hawaii for over 100 years and its now part of their game fish, and they still have LMB, and the snakeheads have not killed any children or small animals

i hear they taste good.

I don't know. I have never been unfortunate enough to catch a snakehead. If I do, then yes it will bother me that much and considerably more.

What if someone is seriously injured attempting to "obey" this retard law? I bet my bottom dollar that the state would STILL not hold themselves responsible! If a fishman is disabled by this "dangerous predator" that is "ILLEGAL" NOT to kill, should they NOT expect longterm disability from the state that required them (a citizen that was NOT an expert on this species) to perform this dangerous requirement of a "law abiding citizen"?

Of course they should expect longterm disability! If we Maryland fishermen are seriously concerned about being 100% fully compliant to this savage requirement of the law in the state of Maryland and decide to all start to "carry firearms" on board in case we are required to perform our dangerous "civic duty" as a Maryland fisherman, are the authorities going to "understand" this "safety precaution" and say OK, no problem? No they will not. They will still mess with the fisherman!
