I still don't get what the OP is so upset about. Here's what I think I gathered from this

First he talks about not wanting to get hurt trying to kill a snakehead because he's never killed a freshwater fish in his life. Then he says people shouldn't ignore laws such as killing non native snakeheads and enforce them. Then something about a bluefish with a taste for human thumbs becomes involved, and somehow it gets to the point about the OP wanting people to stop killing bowfin thinking they are snakeheads.

My face after reading this thread looked something like this:

This thread needs to be closed. Simply put, the thread author is contradicting himself by saying he wants to protect his fishery, but won't kill a fish that is causing harm to the fishery he loves so much. This was a rant, that involved politics, expressing opinions of laws and lawmakers, name-calling amongst MFK members, calling law-makers retards, etc. But since we can use the word 'retard' in this particular thread, I would like to call the author of this thread one, but I won't. He believes killing any animals is wrong - I wonder what kind of animal he ate for dinner tonight...
If I get banned for my above comment, it's been nice knowing you MFKers. Cheers.
Willie, out.

Yes Warmouth, spelling has always been hard for me, I need to just be able to talk to my computer & have it type for me. But as long as I can still get my point across I hope everyone can overlook it.
Lol, Mike Ive never read a post you wrote where you didnt get your post across.....once again good post. The thread author has not responded in a while so hopefully hes changed his opinion that people trying to protect our enviroment whether conservationist or enviromentalist are doing whats right for fishkeeping by preserving our native fish in their waters. Many of these native fish would be good candidates for the aquarium if we dont wipe them out (Roanoke Bass, Bluespotted Sunfish, Blackbanded Sunfish, Mudsunfish etc).

Here we go again, jesus its a law and a law is a law. I've never seenn some one so upset over a law that needs to be placed. SNAKE HEADS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!A fish thats NOT SUPPOSED TO BE HERE, IMO doesn't deserve to live in the wild , they've already ruined some fisheries and I'm sure they'll ruin many more, and when you release them it creates an even bigger chance of ruining a where ever your fishing...get over it and stab it in the head if you get one

"Q: What can the public do to help fight this invasive species?
A: The Commission asks anglers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts not to transplant fish, game, non-game wildlife and plants. Exotic species of all types, not just snake heads, pose a potential ecological risk when introduced into new ecosystems.
The N. C. Wildlife Resources Commission requests that anglers who think they have caught a snake head, to keep it, freeze it or place it on ice and call the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission at 919-707-0220"

I did some research and found nothing that says it is unlawful to catch and release a snake head. It does ask fisherman not to release them back in the water way.

I've never caught a snake head, but have caught plenty of bow fin. All I know is that they are very tasty and if you catch one just eat it or throw it back.

Ooooookkkkaaayyy...So when does this stop? No, the only way to stop it is close it. We've heard enough already from both sides and this is just an endless debate before we end up in trouble because some people cannot keep a cool head.
