This is a fun thread.

So what got you guys into the fish game? What fish did you start out with? How many tanks did you have first and how many gallons were they? Then tell us what fish you have now, how many tanks and how many gallons

Ill go first. I started dating a girl (Hóng) and started to hang out with her brother which was into the hobby and I started to really enjoy it. I was given my first tank which was amazingly 100g which I put a baby red tail catfish in then a couple weeks later got a chilli red flowerhorn and a gar they did very well together for about 6 mouths until the RTC got big and ate the gar. I then sold both the RTC and flowerhorn and got my first pair of NTT datnoids and after that was history. Since then I've have 30 plus different kinds and sizes of datnoids and can't get enough of them.

I started with a 10g for my ex. One day when I was buying food I saw Bala Sharks so I said I have to have one. I started them in 55 and eventually moved to a 220.

I started to fall in love with this hobby when my father bought me a betta (fighting fish) when I was 10 years old back in 90's. To cut the story short, now I have 6 tanks (three 75 gallons, two 55 gallons and one 25 gallons). My current big fish among others are one white giant gourami, one red tail arowana, one flowerhorn, one shortbody flowerhorn and other assorted fish.

When I was two my grandpa started taking me fishing, and when I was three my parents bought me a 25 gallon hex tank. Naturally, I grew up with a love for all things fish-related lol.

upsidedown cats I saw them an I had to have them they actually lived in a blender for a week or so before i set up a tank I had the one for 4 years before my jur tried to eat it more or less chewed it to pieces

When I was little guy, had a Aunt & Uncle into fish & every time I go to hang out with my cousins on a weekend I would sit in front of their tank & was like I was n another world. One time they had a pair of Kribs with babys which was really cool. We also had a guy at our church that raised guppys & some other live bears but also had a five gallon with a pink tip anenomy. Tanks were metal frame back then. ALso loved going to the old Cleve. Aquarium.
Got my first 10 gallon for my 10th Birthday (had goldfish in a bowl prior) from Woolworths with the box filter & incadescent light bulbs. This was over 30 years ago. When I was 12 got a 20 then a 55 then I was garbarage picking tanks. at 15 started to work at Petstore & grew from there. Now been in my business over 18 years & have over 400 tanks & 15,000 gallons running between the store & the hatcherys with mostly cichlids. I also have 20 mostly custom display aquariums at home.
Yes I am a fish addict & proud of it!

dunno one day i just thought id like to keep some fish went bought a 150 gal and ordered a 350 and never looked back this was 4 years ago

I had a 10g when i was 8 or 9 and loved but we got rid of it, then 2 yrs ago i was night fishing with my brother under a bridge and i had caught a 3-4 inch bluegill and as i was reeling it in the line took back off, after fighting it for like 10 mins i got it in and it was a chain pickerel and i thought to myself how cool would it be to be able to see this from an underwater view so thats when the term "aquarium" popped in my head and ever since then its been "hmmmm I need a bigger tank" up to 225g now lol

I got a job at PetSmart a few years ago. One day I was looking through all the tanks and saw a BGK. From that point on I knew this was the hobby for me. Funny now I don't even own a Ghost Knife.
