What % h2o change do u do?

Just curious, like the question asked, what percent of water do you change when doing your tank? I currently do 50% every two weeks, which Ive been told might be to high of a percent. Opinions???

I was also wondering at what percent does a water change become dangerous?

Depends on the load of the tank, some I only do 20-25% and others I like to do 50-60%.

how do u determine the tank load? by the amount of fish vs. the amount of water you have? if so then what exactly is a high tank load vs. a low tank load? is there some formula that i need to know? thank V

I do 20% 3 times a week sometimes 4 ... I believe you can never do too many water changes. I know some guys who do water changes once a day ...

There is no formula and it always changes. I do my water tests once couple of months, if I see that nitrates are a little high in a specific tank.. I will start doing larger water changes in that tank.

50% every 2 months for salt *to expensive* 50% is 400 gallons

Yup, many "pro" fish breeders, especially the Discus nuts, do daily water changes.

i change 75-90% water on all tanks every week


waterchanges are never dangerous as long as the temperature remains within 4-5 degree F, and you use a dechlorinating agent.

So there is no dangerous water percent change max that can be reached?

I only ask because at times im tempted to do a 75% water change (since I only do water changes every two weeks) but im scared it will harm/stress my fish.
