What happen to The Panama Green Umbee

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't seen the Greens nearly as much as the other variants. From what I've seen in quality pics and videos, they are beautiful fish. I think it would be awesome if you could manage to keep all the known types of Umbees. They each appeal to different people, much like every other cichlid out there. Keep what ever makes you happy. It would certainly be a boring and less informative hobby if we all kept the same fish. It's because of all the great cichlids that I was exposed to by members on this and other sites that I sought to keep species that we were new and fascinating to me. I wish you lots of luck in your search for the Panama Green Umbee!

Thanks buddy and the kind words. What you said about keep what you like is key. Over the years I watched people just by fish because its the topic of discussion and then when the topic fades. Or not enough post comments when they start a thread anymore. They end up selling the fish and getting what's the new hottest fish talked about. It's a shame. Festae and umbees where dominating this forum for a while and still are but about 2-3 years ago nobody but real festae keepers where making threads about them. Festae vanished just like the green umbee did to most. You could fine them on every vendors list for cheap lol. So I seem it all on MFK. So to me it's best to keep what you like and who cares what the hottest fish topics out there.

who cares we have black and black blue Umbees now lol, that carry the same shape traits, but have better coloring and more red in the face than the greens did anyhow. Greens are just harder to find because they did not sell well so hardly anyone collects them.

The green is just as interesting a variant as the others.

I purchased about 12-18 fry from Conkel a couple years ago when he had blues and greens on his stock list. As they got to about 2"-3".... I slow gave them away because I was downsizing and switching gears on the types of fish I was keeping. I sure do wish I could go back in time and would have kept a few.

I've never understood how folks on this forum attempt to press their personal preference on other folks.... Very adolescent. To each their own... Caribe, if you decide to get a group buy going... Keep me in the loop! ;) Reagan, put me on your spawn list man.... I'm in for as many as you need me to buy! :)

I have black umbees but I also have twelve tanks bro and why does everyone have to have the same stuff to get approval. I been keeping fish for a long time and all my tanks were full when these were available. Now I want some. I could care less what umbee looks better. It's what I want. I want the most monster green umbee for me not you or this fish forum. And for you info red freckling on green umbees are on and near the forehead there gill plate is all yellow no freckling. I never seen so many people who care about what the next man has. I don't get caught up in the hype like a lot of people do. I keep what I like
