  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was on that trip and they are just stunning! I couldn't believe how amazing they looked and mine are still petty yellow. I took home 2 males and 2 females :naughty:

You know, I would scoop those up if the males didn't get that ugly sac on the forehead. The yellow is amazing and I love the faint, almost-blue bars on them.

Are they actually Gymnogeophagus balzanii or are they thinking it's a separate species? I know Peter mentioned that not all balzanii show that yellow color...

I think only the Uruguayan variant shows so much yellow. I had the "regular" ones before and they look quite different. I'd still think they are the same species though

Awesome! Ken said it was the best trip, mostly because of the people on that trip :)

Ken brought this pair back two years ago (either his or Ed's pics). I bugged him for a year and finally got them, but lost them in a few days. It was my worst loss ever....very happy to have another shot at these amazing fish :)

Haha ask Chelsea! I was too busy fishing most of the time and she took so many good ones! Honestly I have yet to download mine onto my computer...maybe I'll get on that tonight!

We had a riot when we went in March of 09 . . . I really wish I had been able to go again.

Here are a couple more standout fish from the trip. Male Gymnogeophagus tiraparae from Ansina, female Crenicichla celidochilus from Invernada, and a male Gymnogeophagus sp. "Invernada".
