So If I buy another pleco like a bristlenose how do I prevent it from doing the same thing it did to my rtc to my other fish??

Plecos do this kinda thing to slow moving fish or fish that remain still a lot. If you have active fish they should be safe. I personally don't trust Plecos with thing that is slow moving its kinda an inevitable thing. What the rest of your stock?

I think you'll be alright with a bristlenose...I've noticed that common plecos seem to be the worst about this type of thing and bristlenose/rubber lips hardly ever seem to do it.

Provided your bristlenose pleco has plenty to eat, they should never go after the slime coat. They typically only grow to 4 - 6 inches in length and are very docile (unless you stick two males in a tank).
I keep a bristlenose pleco with my goldfish (they are massive) and he steals food when it falls down, keeps the tank clean of algae, and absolutely loves his zucchini.

it entirely depends on the pleco. they are all different and some of them have a habbit of eating the slime coat and others don't. I have a 17" common pleco in my 225 with Bichirs and a florida gar. The pleco has never shown any interest in the other fish and has not even bothered them. Obviously if I saw him sucking on another fish I would remove him but until he develops that habit (if at all) he will remain in there. Like I say its been months and I've had no problems. I have had the pleco for nearly a year now too and hes never been a bother to any fish I've kept him with.

as said, some get that habit, and once gotten, MUST be removed; some never get it....

sorry for you loss. but you water looks pretty poor from the pic. like said be for add some sub stright

Actually no decor or sub is better for him to keep an eye out for any other problems like ich, ect. And his water looks fine . Any way sorry for the lose bro.

Water looks ok for me, and although I like substrate, that's not the issue.
