Just curious about this. There was someone I tried passin the other day, and they kept speeding up, so I wanted to call the police on them. I didn't because they finally stopped. But what does that do? Really?

Driving fast to get more pikes hu?

You could always call it in and then it gets logged in with dispatch, which is sent out to patrol. From there depending on how busy the officers on duty are and how urgent the call is it will get looked at. (i.e drunk/reckless driver vs. kid napping etc.)

How long does it stay in the records? I mean they were driving pretty crazy, but they might not be tomorrow...haha. How long will that search be for them? Or is it just a time limited kinda thing? Most interesting this is. They don't put out a warrant for their arrest do they? haha

Not sure how long its logged into the system. If you really want to know I could ask my best friend who is a cop. If its a bad situation like domestic abuse then it remains logged in until it is answered. Warrents are not issued from a simple phone call, otherwise I would put one out on Neo for taking all the rarest fish. Low level priority calls im unsure of....

I know there are a few cops on the board, any MFK cops wanna take this?

I'm just curious about callin in someones license plate number if they are being a pain, speeding, or the like. What if someone calls in a license plate number and makes up some bogus story about them? Ya know, just randomly calls in someones license number for kicks. Geez that would suck!!

why not just leave the guy alone? I myself have had my license plate "reported" plenty of times. Yesterday was the last time at the bank because the idiot wasnt paying attention and I called him a fat ****ing ***. If its bad enough they will just come to your house like that did to me when I was 18-19, waited 2 hrs for me when I came back from the gym. He said if I didnt come back he would have just issued a warrant for my arrest.

Anyway, I dont understand why people bother with this crap, unless he cuts u off, slams on his breaks, speeds up, then hits them again hoping you would crash who cares. Slow down change lanes and get away, for all you know it could the guys worst day of his life.

Anything less than a fellony requires the police officer to witness the crime/offense.

Someone calling in someone's license plate for (fill in the blank) will get you nothing. The police can not issue tickets for something that they did not witness. Otherwise, the police would be responding to calls from every ex-girlfriend, ex-wife, and "that beotch down the street". Get it?

And for the above post, when you are a problem teen and make your name known with the police, expect them to not take your side. Police work is 80% social work. Sitting in front of your house waiting for you to get home to talk to you is part of that 80%. Cuffing and stuffing you for the part you didn't tell us about is part of the other 20%.

Not so true in some states. I know because I got a ticket in the mail for doing a mini-burnout in a parking lot in the icy-snow in a RWD rx7. Before I received the ticket I got a call from the cop asking me if it happened and wanted to talk about it. On new years eve of all nights. I promptly hung up on him because he's bogus for trying to bust me for something he didn't see.

Local court(where everyone is guilty) found me guilty, I appealed with a lawyer to a higher county court and got the fine with no points. Cop had wrote it up as wreckless driving because that would have got me 6 month license suspension. Some cops are just pricks. And well the legal system is rather crooked.

Whether it's the worst day of his life or not doesn't mean you need to act like an idiot. If someone wants to go faster than you let them pass or pull over so they can. :)
