if i put black sand in my flowerhorn tank? does putting spirulina powder have the same effect as feeding it?

I'm not sure I understand your question. Can you elaborate?
1st question is will my flowerhorn change color if I use black sand as substrate 2nd question is I bought spirulina powder then i put abt 2 teaspoons in my flowerhorn tank, does putting spirulina in the water of my flowerhorn have the same effect as feeding it spirulina?

For your first question yes your flowerhorn will become darker on black substrate. And if for your second question yeah I would think so if he would eat the spirulina alone but why not just get a pellet containing spirulina?
i thought it would work more...

I'd say I agree with most everyone here. Yes the black substrate will change the FH's color, generally making them much darker, and while it works for some it doesn't for most. I would recommend uploading a pic of your FH so we can collaborate with each other and help ya pic out the best color to help boost your FH's color.

As for the spirulina I would just feed it to the FH rather then putting it directly into the water. If it's just free floating in the water collum with nothing there to eat it, it will eventually rot and become toxic. I would just recommend using either spirulina flakes or some sort of pellet that has a decent percentage of spirulina.
