What have you bred?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do you think you could post a picture of your muppies. I have heard that there almost impossible to breed.
Lol yeah I still got pics of all 3 of em even tho only one is left alive at this point. Also Muppies are all born infertile so they can never reproduce. It has something to do with the genetic differences between mollies and guppies. The 2 yellow ones got their color from the male mollie while the grey one got its color from the guppy female. The 2 yellow ones also only got to 1in while the grey one got to 2.5in. also they grey one has some added color now, I'll try to take a pic of him later to show off his new color, almost makes him look like a wild molly color wise, lot of iridescent greens, blues and yellows on him now along with a black stripe/spotting pattern. Sadly don't have the yellow one with the neon blue tiger stripes anymore, he was my favorite one just because of those beautiful stripes.

Wow thats soo coool!
Lol yeah they were definitely a neat surprise when I first found em. Lol thought they were mutant guppies at first when I noticed them just due to their size at the time, they were still fry yet just pink fry instead of grey like usual. But yeah ya can kind of see traits from both parents in em. They definitely have more of a guppy body style but have the face of a molly. Lol I just wish I could keep breeding em, especially the yellow one with the blue stripes, too bad that it's not possible. Honestly tho ya could even kind of notice it in their personalities as well, they never seemed to be interested in females of either specie and we're always off doing their own thing.

All of mine were without trying since I don’t really want to deal with fry except in the case of goldfish which I wanted to populate my pond. (?)
Goldfish
Koi
Tilapia Mozambique
Convicts
Fire mouth
Guppies
Platties
Sword tails

non fish (?)
Dutch ornamental rabbits

fish I tried to breed unsuccessfully ( ?):
Panamensis
Jack Dempseys (when I was I young hobbiest)

My parakeets laid eggs a few times. I never knew for sure if I had a male and female, or two females, but they never seemed to figure out that if they laid the egg from the top of the cage, I had to clean up an omelet. Every single one. I never did get a chance to see if they were fertile.

Not going to go into the past pleco/catfish pre-car accident. Since start of 2020 back into the hobby starting fresh, tabula rasa:

Current trying to breed:
L264 -
Napo cories

Have bred

Smudge spot cories- I brought some during GCCA swap Jan of 2020 from Pete Durkin as tiny juvies and they already bred twice as soon I moved them out of warmer temp tank.

Golden wonder killifish in an semi aggressive community tank. Managed to save one fry from two different spawns. Will re-attempt for BAP .

What kind of parakeet? If you've got budgerigars they're easy to sex especially if they're spawning. The males get the blue nostrils and the females have kinda of a fleshy color to them.

Both were common budgies. One of them passed away over the summer.
I know about the cere method, but for some reason it didn’t seem to accurate with them. The still living one has a brown crusty cere like a female (when young she had a whitish blue cere), but the other one had a pale cere that never really showed one color or the other. I have read that some of the color morphs don’t show cere color, but I am pretty sure that was more for albinos.
I would have assumed both were female, but when they laid it was never just one (or in their case 2) and done for a while, but they did a lot of them in rapid succession as if they were breeding.
