what have you done to it's eyes!?

Gotta go with the Gymnos. Theres a gang of them in there. Im sure the tetra came around the wrong part of town and they had to teach him a lesson.

id say gymno before convict. by yellow convict I mean cryptoheros nanoluteus. the ebjd although the largest is a female and the most docile of the group. the black skirts just do a lot of fin nipping amongst one another.
i really hate the fish with no eyes thing super creepy lookin. I once had a sturgeon with no eyes that lived almost another year

are you absolutely positive the fish couldn't have been like that when you purchased it. Because I have bought fish before only to notice a birth defect or scarred injury a week later(usually on cheap fish I get in groups).

Convict I had a pair that did it to one of my severums. He lived also

maybe I should not have used the common name yellow convict for this fish.
I am not sure if every one realizes that yellow convicts (cryptoheros nanoluteus) are not related to the common black bar convict and are no where near as aggressive or large as convicts. These guys are 1 and 2 inches pretty much full grown dwarf cichlids.
sorry my bad. maybe some votes might change now.....

the 1 eyed tetra has succumb to someones wrath and been flushed with no eyes or entrails left, probably for the best.....

this tank is a bermuda triangle for tetras. I first started with 10 hemmigramis rodwii (gold tetras) and all but one disappeared within 2 days. the one still lives on 4 months later and hangs with the black skirts now. seems strange to me that nine would be eaten right away and one survive indefinitely?
and no the the black skirt had his eyes before going into the tank as I quarantined them for about a month prior to introduction.
I feel the black skirt tetra to be the best dither for this tank maybe I just need a bigger tank to allow for some space to evade attacks.

this is the female cryptoheros nanoluteus at 1"
not to say they cant hold their own but ive never seen them do any damage. much like a blue ram but larger.
someone should come up with a better common name that doesn't imply relation to Cichlasoma nigrofasciatum

convicts are not known to live in community tanks if so there must be tons of tons for them so that they dont set up a territory at all, i must say is the convict or zebra cichlid, they arent known to be peaceful mine has KILLED not injure 3-4 tiger barbs, and those guys are hella fast and kill/or severely injure in just days smaller cichlids in its 20 gallon tank, and in breeding they do bite owners where it can bleed a bit and with fishes an eye is probably nothing with a breeding pair, my male wins against my jewel cichlid which are same size and jewels r known to be always winners no matter wat size
