I used to collect Transformers .. Robots in Disguise. I had almost every American Release from 1984 on... I quit collecting and started selling. Half for Fish tank and future Fish tanks the Other half to be able to afford to take the family to disney by paying off bills and having room on cc for more fish tanks.

Wow not missing the smoking so much now.

I gave up smoking and car audio to jump in the fish game:D

Both were driving my wife crazy cause you could hear me coming and then you could smell me coming too.... I promised her I would kick smoking/beat aside for a new hobby... Just her luck I got in to fish, then MFK hit me with all kinds of exotic fish and now I spend more than both previous hobbies combined:D... oops. Atleast its a healthy one, right;)

Plus my daughters love it and Ive met some real cool people on here:headbang2

Win, Win situation:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

there has been a few things that I have traded off, yet, I rather look at it in the way of trading in for.

I stopped the renovation of my my house.
I passed up on a 54 renault for my daughters future sweet 16 bday present.
I put away a renovation on my restaurant space that would allow me a bigger kitchen and enable a more diversified menu.
I put away the purchase of new vehicle for the family.
I gave away my reputation in the eyes of my inlaws BUT WHO THE HELL CARES WHAT THEY THINK!!!!!!!!
There are a few other things but I will cut the list short here to give the reason why I gave up on those things amongst others.

I look at it as an investment in my kids and my family. Our house is the place to be for my kids friends. My son's classmates think he is lying when he tells them of all the animals and pets we have. Just wait till I email the teacher some pictures to show the class or better yet I show up with a traveling zoo before summer break for a special show an tell session.

Even further I figured it this way for sure it is a great hobby, but it is also a killer business. Since fish reproduce very easily and they reproduce in mass quantity, the math is a snap.(Add to this the ineptness of many petstores etc..)

All I had to do was jump of the the bungie bridge without a bungie cord having faith that I would not splatter when I hit the water. ahhahahahhahahahhahahhahahahhahahahhahahhahahahhahahhahahahhahahahhaha.

At this point the countdown is enroute and the ship is looking shapely, only a matter of time till the eagle is landed.

Stopped collecting both toys and games for over a year and dedicated all my money to this fish hobby/habit/obsession. Even slacked on weight training during that time. So basically all my hobbies were pushed to the back burner for fish keeping.

I finally cut back on some of my tanks and now things are back to normal. Fish keeping can be addictive, they should have warning labels plastered outside of every fish store. :)
