What heater do you use?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use stealths as well. They don't shatter due to immediate temperture changes like the glass ones and they don't burn the rays. I have never had a cover on mine and have never had any rays get burned.

Sounds good folks. I'm just hesitant getting the stealths cause there's no indicator light. I'm scared it breaks and I won't know. Rena smartheaters seems like it'd be cool. But hows does water flow through it?

Ebo Jager, and it's in the sump.

+1

I also always have two heaters in my sumps, one for a backup of course....

i personally like heaters with separate controller and if heater is in tank use pvc to make a guard. i don't know why people mess with stealths unless they are putting there rays in a 55gal or something. i have 1000w heaters on most of my setups.

Maybe cause they are cheap yet reliable? I've heard plenty of horror stories regarding 1K watt Tiatanium heaters......

Plus when using multiple heaters if one does fail there is always a backup.
Just like using multiple filters, always a backup.

if you have a heater in the tank it needs a guard

if you are using a canister filter why not get the hydor external it goes outside the tank in line with the return pipe of the filter

i have been running the hydor 300w efi for over 3 years with no problems
