How often should I do water changes on a 65 fish only. So here it is.

I have a 65 with a penguin biowheel 350 and an ac110. I hope this will work for filteration. I also have a ac70 powerhead. I was also going to get a hob skimmer rated for a 75+ gallon. Last for equipment is a coralife t5 36" double light.

Then for decor is just live sand and big chunks of live rock??
Sounds good!
Are you gonna buy CURED live rock and sand or just base rock and cure it in the cycle?
and water changes are up for debate!
I do 25% every week some do more some do less!
Some do 20% twice a week some do 30% every two weeks !

"the sollution to polution is delution"

cured will give you better biological control instead of taking time to become biologically stable. Id say buying non cured rock is better on because you want ammonia in your tank to start the cycle. This will help the process and will cost less. You may not get as high of readings so you may need to add other sources of ammonia. Best way is shrimp in nylons lol. This will decay and add your ammonia and give you a solid cycle at the end stage of the tank.

Also im located in La Crosse WI, right on the edge of the Mississippi River, how about you??

sweet, thats not that far away at all. I make my way out to madison every now and then, is there any good LFS that you know of. Im more into variety of coral and fish vs massive amounts of supplies lol. Most of the stores around here get the most common of common fish and a ton of supplies.

There is only one lfs in madison. That is Living Art. They have a decent selection but boy oh boy can they be expensive. I think they are because of the building they rent for the store. I just took a 2 hour drive up to greenfield and went to aquatics unlimited. Not a bad place. I really enjoyed there side by side 900 gallon each display tanks, one for monsters and one was a heavily planted discus community tank. They had some coral and a decent bit of sw fish.

I have read a little bit on salt water and wanted to set up another 65 that i get this weekend as a saltwater. I do not want coral I just want a few fish more on the lines of a porcupine puffer and maybe a trigger. What supplies should I get to set up a 65 gallon salt water tank ( no coral)

Bare minimum of 100 gals for a porcupine puffer, they get to about a foot in captivity..
