I thought Id post this on here and possibly stick it to the top if we get enough interest. I got a non working wine bottle cooler from c list for close to nothing. I took out the wine racks because of the wavey configuration used on the racks will keep the egg boxes slanted = bad for the eggs. I used some spare closet racks that I had laying around and cut them to fit and used them as the shelves.

I added two light fixtures and will be putting two 25watt party bulbs to maintain a constant 84-86f. I also ordered a T stat from Big Apple, I like these T stats over the conventional on and off ones why? Because they dim the lights once reaching the desired temp rather than shutting off the bulb which would cause a more rapid dip in temps.

You can use heat tape if you choose as the heating element, but I prefer the bulbs, it helps you see the eggs inside rather than having to open the door more often than you should, and also because if a bulb goes out I can just replace without again having to keep the door open for too long of a period.

This particular cooler measures 32 tall 21 wide and 21 deep. I can place 12 Sim containers in there comfortably.

Thanks all, I have had good success with this incubation system and many others have as well. It def keeps the temps much more stable than a hova and you can fit alot more in more perlite filled sims or shoebox type incubation boxes. Just remember to use a surge protector for the t stat hahahaha.

Nice one, looks like a great way to do things properly but cheaply. You incubating anything now in it, or the sim there just for size reference?

Nothing in there yet mate, I built an additional one just in case. I think I have a gravid ackie so I will be putting that clutch in this incubator just to make sure all is well.

Cheers!
