They don't swollow the prey if it were still swimming, it'd probably get taken sideways or something. Anyone got a 3-4' aro and wants to sacrafice a 10-12" RBP?
oxygen or no oxygen, if the piranha is the right size and gets swallowed by an aro, most likely some damage is gonna be done to the inside. imagine the pain.
I would say you wouldn't have to feed it until tomorrow. I believe in the wild, arrowanas swallow a lot of things that can hurt it with no problem. Some fish they eat have spines and there have been reports of arrowanas eating monkeys. I think a monkey with it's claws and teeth would be more of a problem than a pirahna. Just my opinion, The Doctor.
Bony plates inside the arowana's mouth will crush and grind up the prey. Its not as if a piranha is swallowed and is swimming inside the stomach. At the most, it could be alive for a few minutes, but the gastric juices and acids break down the fish and kill it. A piranha will not bite from the inside, out.
