what is a good predator fish for 55g ?

Did you even read the tank size? Fahakas get way too big for a 12 inch deep tank.

I think dwarf pikes would look really great in a planted setting. Bichirs and leopard ctenompomas would also be fine. A Nandus nandus would be really cool too; they get about 8 inches max.

If you want a predatory fish that has the muscle and teeth to back it up in a size that will be ok in a 55 then get a Salvini, mine is 3" of teeth and fury.
