Which catfish?
What types of African cichlids do you exactly have?
Are all these fish combined in one tank?

This is false. But for the OP Oscars and LMB. I would suggest pellets being roughly 80% with nightcrawlers and Crickets being 2 very good options for live foods. Oscars being particularly sensitive to HLLE/HITH due to thiasmine issues ( which is why goldfish and rosy minnows are discouraged in general other then the disease/over all health of these fish)

I would avoid frogs unless you are 100% sure of their health and species as some are toxic. amphibians skin will "soak" up any toxins in the waters they come from, which can and will be passed onto your fish.

crawdads are acceptable as long as they are captive raised/propigated as well for poison concerns.

There is some great info stickyed on this site for further info.

I don't think so. I'm not saying you should only feed pellets, but if you mostly feed pellets, it's better in the long run. Most pellets, especially from a trusted company, such as Hikari or NLS, have a careful balance of ingredients that researchers have actually worked hard towards discovering.

Very few people will take the time to raise their own live food. It takes time, space, and money, not only to buy the parent feeders, but to keep the filters and heaters running and to buy the feeders' food (which will also undoubtedly be prepared food).

You can buy frozen krill and silversides to supplement a diet that consists mostly of pellets, there's no reason to feed live (other than a stubborn fish who will not take anything else, and whose will won't break even on the brink of emaciation).

Yea I feed mine frozen food like plankton and blood worms and such u just dip the cup in the tank and put the square in the cup wen it dissolves pour it out into the tank! it's easy and just like live food!
